Training
Before any employee puts on a hard hat or protective glasses they are required to attend a series of safety training programs. These programs cover most potential hazards that arise while working in the field. From proper lifting techniques, to personal health, these programs are designed to enrich the lives of our employees while teaching valuable safety lessons. Additionally, prior to stepping foot on the rig floor our employees attend daily safety meetings, in which all upcoming jobs of the day are discussed and analyzed to insure that every safety precaution possible is implemented. However, it does not stop there. Constantly updating and training our employees is essential in creating a safe work environment. It is for this reason that we offer advanced training sessions for our employees, to help educate and advance their safety knowledge.
Personal Protective Equipment
Whether at the yard or on location all Orion employees are provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Hard Hats, Safety Glasses, Steel Toed Boots, Protective Gloves, Hearing Protection and Chemical Resistant Clothing. Additionally, each rig is equipped with supplemental protective equipment such as respirators, caustic protective clothing, emergency rinse stations, and a number of other preventive measures, all up to and exceeding OSHA standards. There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our employees. That is why our employees and any other visitors on location are provided with the best equipment and use of such equipment is strictly enforced.
Safety Team
Internal Safety Audits. Leadership Training. Spill Prevention. To assist in reaching our goal of an incident-free work environment, Orion has implemented a field safety team. Our safety teams primary objective is to create and foster a culture in which safety is the primary responsibility of every employee. This is accomplished through the creation of leadership & mentoring programs that encourage every individual to be accountable for the safety of themselves and those around them. Our Short Service Employee program (SSE), is designed to do just that. All new Orion employees, regardless of work history, are entered into our SSE Program. The program is designed to provide new employees with an experienced Orion employee as a mentor to show them any potential hazards that may arise during a normal workday. We have found that this program not only lowers the risk of potential incidents for new employees, but also for their mentors.
Job Safety Analysis
Jobs come up during shifts that were not expected at the beginning of the day. Job Safety Analysis’s (JSA’s) are implemented prior to any job, planned or unplanned to insure a step by step process is in place so that all employees are fully aware of any potential safety hazards. Our rig supervisors are required to participate in all JSA’s. From washing the rig floor, to tripping pipe, each task requires a JSA prior to starting the job.
