Wayne Squires
Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer
Wayne Squires has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since Orion’s formation in 2003. A petroleum engineer by training, he previously was a partner in the original Pioneer Drilling Company from 1988-2000 and served as President and Owner prior to its purchase by South Texas Drilling. Additionally, Mr. Squires served in a variety of capacities for Peninsula Drilling Company from 1980-1988 including President, Executive Vice President and as a drilling engineer.
Jeff Weis
Executive Vice President
Jeff Weis has served as Vice President of Orion Drilling since its formation in 2003. Previously Mr. Weis was the Vice President of Contracts at Pioneer Drilling Company where he worked for 8 years. Prior to Pioneer, he served as General Manager for Zarsky Drilling Fluids from 1987 to 1995. In addition, he served as a technical advisor for Halliburton’s IMCO Services division from 1978 to 1986.
Calvert Jones
Vice President Operations
Calvert Jones has served as Vice President of Operations since November of 2009. Mr. Jones joined Orion Drilling Company in January 2008. Prior to joining Orion, Mr. Jones worked for EOG Resources from 2002 – 2007 in various operational capacities. Mr. Jones is a 2002 Natural Gas Engineering graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville.
Dave Castro
Health, Safety and Environment Manager
Dave Castro has served as Orion’s HSE Director since January 2010 and HSE Manager from January 2009. Prior to joining Orion, Mr. Castro served in a variety of capacities at BP Americas, Inc. from 2000 to 2009 supporting Gulf of Mexico (GoM) Deepwater Drilling and Production operations including Thunder Horse, Atlantis and Horn Mountain. In addition, Mr. Castro also held posts supporting U.S. Lower 48 Drilling and Production operations in Rockies, San Juan, Arkoma and Gulf Coast basins in Texas and South Louisiana. Mr. Castro was also instrumental in helping develop BP’s HSE Contractor Management Program for the U.S. Lower 48. Prior to BP America, Mr. Castro served in a variety of posts at Vastar Resources in Houston, Texas from 1996 to 2000.
